About the Project:
The Montgomery Public School System’s new James W. Wilson, Jr. Elementary School provides for 600 students. The school includes a total gross building area of 83,762 square feet on one level, and is on a 14.11-acre site. The school was designed with three classroom pods, each housing ten classrooms, a multi-purpose room, teacher support areas, and two common spaces. Classrooms are designed for permanently mounted projectors and interactive white boards. The media is centrally located along the spine of the building to give immediate access to all students. The cafeteria, also located off the spine, was designed to accommodate 350 people and includes a stage for theatrical performances. The administration area is adjacent to the school’s main entrance which also includes a health clinic. The overall theme of the building was designed around national parks.
